Olaf is a Massey University (NZ) veterinary graduate. He has completed a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Florida (USA), as well as Master of Science degrees in both Christchurch (Canterbury University) and Edinburgh (Centre for Tropical Veterinary Medicine at the University of Edinburgh).

Olaf started his companion animal career in the Hawkes Bay, and after working in practices in Australia and the UK, returned to Auckland to join the team at Balmoral Vets in 2013. While he has a keen interest in general surgery and feline medicine he very much enjoys being the family's veterinary GP. He grew up in countries as diverse as New Zealand, Germany, Kenya and Barbados. In his spare time he remains a keen sportsman, loves to travel and is an avid photographer.
